PRE-SALE: Build & Deploy Your Own Portfolio Website Mini-Course
Have you done so many tutorials, but still don't have the confidence to deploy a website?
Do you need a minimalist portfolio website template that doesn't require a lot of libraries or annoying frontend frameworks?
Do you want to practice your web development skills while getting a walkthrough of how to edit and launch a website from start to finish?
This is the mini course for you -- and I'll walk you through the process.
I will show you how to edit this super-lightweight, tech stack website template.
How to set up the contact form using Formspree, plus practice connecting to APIs for Hashnode and YouTube.
Backstory
When I got laid off, I needed a complete uplift of my own personal website, not only redesign and rebrand it, but take it from being a blog to that of a IT professional, but I also wanted to make it super easy to update.
This HTML website template came into being in just over a day and is a distilled version of the complete uplift of my own personal website, so it is totally redesigned!
It uses vanilla Javascript (tech-speak for just plain Javascript, so no libraries) and a light-weight CSS framework called Bulma.
It also uses Hashnode's API to bring in the blog posts (because who wants to manage a blog backend anymore) and Formspree for the contact form.
Why do yet another course?
Another aspect of designing this mini-course came from the data science and engineering courses I was studying, I found that all of the courses and tutorials just assume the learner needs only a light grasp of HTML, CSS and various data formats.
They really don't stress that you really need to be strong in it!
They also don't even mention how to set yourself up for a new career, that includes rebranding yourself requires a digital presence.
So not only are you getting a template, but you are also getting the much needed practice of working with HTML and CSS to do all the data science stuff, while also establishing a online presence early in your tech/ data career.
So this mini course fills in that gap, where you launch your online presence now - without a lot of bells and whistles - but also to practice the essential web development skills needed for data-centric tech career and see how to use practical Python skills to help you create a website!
Plus, you’ll also get bonus guides on what to brush up on before you tackle this mini-course, worksheets, a walkthrough of how to host it for free on either Github or Gitlab and much more - because why spend more than you need too!
